Following the success of the U.S. Green Building Council-Illinois Chapter’s first Annual Report in 2014, the organization once again turned to Vertical to design its follow up for 2015. This marketing piece was meant to not only be an account of the organization’s 2015 successes for its members, but a vehicle to generate further interest in USGBC-Illinois and its work. Specifically, the report’s theme of “Impact and Connection” needed to be reflected through concise, engaging copy, testimonials and unexpected design. Using dynamic, impactful typography that bled off the pages, we made sure select imagery was big and bold. Unexpected (for the reader) was a double-folded center spread showcasing a vivid and colorful City of Chicago, its lakefront, and adjoining downtown neighborhoods all representing the diversity of the city and the many communities USGBC-Illinois serves. A coated metal wire binding was employed for easy reader navigation. The end result was a very happy client with an Annual Report that speaks to a motivated sustainability community.
